Jill Barrett | Head of Department

Experience?
I first worked in Barretts during my Summer Holiday at the age of 18, when my Mum and Dad were in charge. I then pursued a career at BT, and following a break to have Vicky and Annie, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Kyson School in Woodbridge. I rejoined Barretts when my Uncle Ray and Aunt Paddy retired in 2009.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
I’d love to take the Driftwood Lamp home (from my own Linens and Gifts Department). I know just where it would it would look lovely!

Sue Cullum | Department Supervisor

Experience?
I have over 15 years experience in linens and accessories, and have been with Barretts for over 10 years. I’m proud to be Department Supervisor.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The Union Jack Russell cushion, and who can resist those big brown eyes?


Holly Norton

Experience?
I am a happy, friendly person that has worked locally in Woodbridge retail shops for over 3 years. I am a new member to the Barretts team and hope to be here for a while.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The pink headboard with crystal detail in the Bed Department. It’s trendy, girly, stylish and fun!

Karen Merrill

Experience?
I have an admin and finance background
but I love talking to and helping
people, so I am enjoying my
new job!

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The Stowe Knole sofa, because it
caught my eye the first
time I saw it.

Linda Solis

Experience?
I have been employed in the linens department at Barretts for the last 14 years, being involved in all aspects of the workings of the shop. Previous retail experience includes 13 years in a sports shop, prior to that 10 years of secretarial work.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The favourite thing in Barretts is the traditional wool and silk handwoven rugs. A great amount of skill and time goes into creating each of the beautiful designs, all of which are unique.

Vicky Jaspal

Experience?
I go to Farlingaye School, and I work on Saturdays when the shop is really busy. I’ve really enjoyed being trained and welcomed by the staff, and serving lovely customers! I particularly enjoyed the Christmas Street Fayre, giving out sausage rolls, mince pies, hot spiced apple juice, and mulled wine.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The Neptune Chichester range in the Dining Room Furniture Department. It would look great in our kitchen.

Annie Jaspal

Experience?
I go to Farlingaye School and I work some Saturdays with my Mum in the shop.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The Neptune Henley table and chairs in the Dining Room Furniture Department. Why? They’re hot! They are orginal and classy. Would look great in a cosy mansion. Really pretty – simple but elegant.

Imiee Smith

Experience?
I go to Farlingaye School, and I after I did work experience here last September I’ve carried on working Saturday’s ever since. I previously worked as a volunteer in Oxfam.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
The Finn Chair in the Bespoke Upholstery Department – it’s creative and stylish.

Dorothy Simmons

Experience?
In the 1980’s I joined the company in the Linen Department and progressed in the 1990’s as Soft Furnishings Adviser. This involved meeting customers in their homes to discuss colour schemes and all aspects of soft furnishings. I retired in the late 1990’s and have now returned on a part time basis, mainly as I enjoy the lovely atmosphere of this delightful store in the heart of Woodbridge with the friends I have made over the years.

Favourite thing in Barretts and why?
Afghan Kundos hand-knotted rug. Why? They are so beautiful!
