We would like to introduce Meg, who is one of our go-to Homewares Ambassadors!
You may have already met Meg on one of your visits to Barretts as she’s been part of the Homewares team for four years. Meg is also a key member of the creative team who design our beautiful display windows, for which we have become rather famous. This is especially true for this year, as our bespoke themed windows are now in place for Christmas 2024!
If you are looking for some inspiration when updating the look and feel of your home, come along and speak with Meg, or any of the Homewares Team, for some great ideas on how to re-style your home.
We asked Meg for a ‘look through the keyhole’ to find the inspiration behind her own home design. We found a wide selection of items from the Barretts Home Furnishings range of products, all coordinated in Meg’s own unique style.
Sometimes I’ll see something like a cushion and my inspiration comes from there
What is your favourite room and why?
I would have to say it is the Living Room, especially with the addition of the new ‘Snuggle Sofa’ and coordinating cushions which match perfectly with my existing design theme. Plus my wood effect LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) flooring is so practical, hard-wearing and always looks great with minimal effort.
My key colour palette is purposely neutral and earthy, which makes it easy to incorporate a range of accent colours with simple things like cushions or plants. This makes it easy to coordinate with the seasons, so you are always on point.
How did you decide upon your overall design theme and which key pieces link to your chosen colour palette?
Sometimes I’ll see something like a cushion and my inspiration comes from there. For instance, if you look at the photo of my living room there is a cushion by William Morris in the colour Olive, which just came in and I couldn’t resist!
The rich William Morris design theme continues in the bedroom, with my lovely Relyon bed from Barretts of course! I love the rich and detailed design, plus my gorgeous ‘bee’ cushion.
For the bathroom, I’ve gone for the cheerful colours and designs from Orla Kiely, who is still a highly popular designer at Barretts.
What do you value most about shopping with Barretts?
Obviously it’s really convenient for me being at work, as I get to see all new ranges going straight onto the sales floor in our display showroom. We ‘merchandise’ the new product ranges into individual room settings, presenting them in hopefully an inspirational and stylish way. This offers a snap-shot of how the individual pieces could look in your own home.
The most helpful tool is the Barretts Appro Service, which is a free service available for both customers and sales staff alike. This allows you to take an item home, or have it delivered to see if it were something you would like to invest in, to enhance your home looks and/or comfort. Should you decide against the item there is never an obligation to buy, which means I intend to keep on shopping with Barretts!
